The remote control for the Z5500 is a good replacement. It is fully functional and has already been configured as described on the site. The remote has small buttons, but you can press them gently to about halfway through their travel, or perhaps even less. I keep it tucked into a small closable pocket with a top zipper to protect it. You know what I mean? Over time the remotes get dirty, because people like to eat in front of the TV, press the remote while eating more than once, and dirt gradually accumulates. If you want to keep it completely clean as well, I recommend a small transparent pocket with a zipper at the top. For those considering a purchase, the remote is slim; it isn’t like the original. I also have the original and it’s fully functional, but I keep the other one. The remote is designed for small round batteries CR2016, CR2032, CR2045, and perhaps higher-capacity batteries as well, but I don’t know that yet. I don’t know how long the battery lasts compared to the original with normal use. I can’t say here, because only time will tell. Some people may prefer that it uses such a small battery, and some may not. But as a replacement I don’t see a problem with it; why should the remote have to be as thick and large as the original, including the buttons. Even change has its charm; moreover, buying this supports a Czech manufacturer from Ostrava. And if you wanted it as an original, the shop offers a counterpart to the original remote. But as I said, change has its charm, so for me I would recommend this Ostrava remote to you if you don’t mind the dimensions, thickness, button size, and battery. All of it is just about habit, and on the other hand we can be glad that there are 2 fully configured spare remotes available. Times have changed; speakers are no longer sold, and it’s best to have new spare parts.
